As I develop my sexuality I often can’t help but feel the connection between creativity, confidence, and sexual energy.

I find that within my body there is a force that requires growth and creative expression that is often asleep. The more I explore, the more effortlessly my creativity pours out.

This feeling tends to come alive when there is an unhurried sensuality flowing through me.

The opposite is also true. When I don’t feel sexual I have to work hard and find other dopamine releasing activities to fuel my creativity.

Sexuality is a powerful force that brings consciousness to body, mind and soul. Creativity is ultimately sexual and our sexuality is the greatest gift we’ve been given.

Sexual energy is the basis of creativity, love, ambition, desire, and creation of life. This powerful energy awakens new sensations that allow us to realize who we are.

As Naomi Wolf in her book “Vagina” eloquently explains: 

“Female sexual pleasure, rightly understood, is not just about sexuality, or just about pleasure.

It serves, also, as a medium of female self-knowledge and hopefulness; female creativity and courage; female focus and initiative; female bliss and transcendence; and as medium of a sensibility that feels very much like freedom.

To understand the vagina properly is to realize that it is not only coextensive with the female brain, but is also, essentially, part of the female soul.”

 She goes on to explain that the vagina and the brain are essentially one network, or “one whole system.” But this pleasure and creativity isn’t only limited to women.

The “erotic metaphysics” in which Plato and Aristotle both saw the Eros as the prime movers of stars, acorns and affairs of men. 

Our sexuality is not merely a minor power, but it’s the basis of living fully.

When we tap into this inner strength we develop the courage, confidence, and determination to tap into our erotic power and use it to bring change within ourselves and to the world.

Numerous traditions and thinkers have given rise to an erotic vision which emphasizes unity of beings, the powers of passions that move toward harmony.

Our sexuality is a resource and within each of us lays a deeply feminine spiritual plane, rooted in the power of our unexpressed or unrecognized feelings.

Throughout history our culture has repressed and distorted the potential of our sexuality.

We don’t consider our sexuality as a source of power and information within our lives and yet our sexuality represents our most intense moments and interactions with the world.

Truth is, we are all sexual beings. Period. The path of sexual transformation isn’t about denying sex, indulging in sex, or overcoming the desire for sex.  

It is about accepting your sexuality as part of your nature. Sexual energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be harnessed and redirected towards anything we want. Energy flows where attention goes.

Creative Energy In Hinduism

In Hinduism, the female energy source is the more active. The feminine aspect, Shakti, is the creative energy inherent in men and women which dances upon the horizontal Shiva to give a feminine designation.

Shakti is described as the life principle of creation and the divine female energy of the universe. As a means of empowerment a Shakti theology built on such democratic foundations advocates “power with” and not “power over” relationships.

Shakti is the active and dynamic aspect of Shiva without there being a difference between the two except by their perceived qualities.

They are inseparable.

The dance of Shakti and Shiva symbolizes the coming together of the feminine and masculine energies inside a person, as well as the creation of the worlds.

The Tantric principle is about giving and receiving energy. To live in balance, we need both of these energies to be expressed equally.
